Verse

The secret things belong to God,
he keeps his counsel still;
But what he shows he shows abroad,
and shows it when he will.
He hid his wisdom in the deep
and set a seal above;
Not to deny, but safe to keep
the treasure of his love.

Chorus

The sealed and secret things are told,
the veil is drawn aside;
The hidden Christ our eyes behold,
in whom all treasures hide.

Verse

In Babylon the wise men failed,
the dream lay past their art;
But heaven’s God, whose word prevailed,
laid bare the monarch’s heart.
The heathen king pronounced it plain,
and set the verdict down:
Our God alone unseals again
the thoughts of every crown.

Chorus

The sealed and secret things are told,
the veil is drawn aside;
The hidden Christ our eyes behold,
in whom all treasures hide.

Verse

Great is the mystery of God,
made manifest in flesh;
He walked the ways our fathers trod
and made the promise fresh.
The Word that no man could have guessed
lay hidden in the plan;
And all the wisdom God possessed
came walking as a man.

Chorus

The sealed and secret things are told,
the veil is drawn aside;
The hidden Christ our eyes behold,
in whom all treasures hide.

Verse

He hid the kingdom in a field,
a leaven in the meal;
And what a parable concealed
the Spirit would reveal.
Two walked the road and could not see
the Lord who walked beside;
Their hearts were burning inwardly
before their eyes were wide.

Chorus

The sealed and secret things are told,
the veil is drawn aside;
The hidden Christ our eyes behold,
in whom all treasures hide.

Bridge

There is a secret works below
and will not show its face;
It came a serpent long ago
and speaks in every place.

Verse

A woman sits in gold and red,
a name upon her brow;
A bride comes down in linen, led
to keep her marriage vow.
Two cities stand, two cups are poured,
two names for men to wear;
“Come out of her,” declares the Lord,
“and be not partners there.”

Chorus

The sealed and secret things are told,
the veil is drawn aside;
The hidden Christ our eyes behold,
in whom all treasures hide.

Bridge

It builds a city and a name,
it lifts a golden cup;
It wears the whiteness of the Lamb
till God shall break it up.

Verse

So hold the mystery of faith
in conscience clean and true;
Be stewards of the word he saith
until he makes all new.
Now through a glass we darkly gaze,
but then, unveiled, we see;
And we shall all be changed, and praise
the God of mystery.

Chorus

The sealed and secret things are told,
the veil is drawn aside;
The hidden Christ our eyes behold,
in whom all treasures hide.
